PB & J Banana Smoothie

GREAT news everybody. Today was my last day of school. I’m finished with my junior year! Can you believe that…finished?! No more SAT’s or ACT’s ever again. No more finals, dreaded amounts of mundane homework, or long nights spent studying for a good 3 months. I cannot put into words how excited I am.

Today was also my sister’s 8th grade graduation, or “moving up ceremony” as they like to call it. Ah the good old days of middle school, said no one ever. I recall being very nervous for what high school had to offer, and I can sense that she feels a little bit of this as well. She’ll learn to enjoy it though. I never really realize it, but high school really teaches you a lot. Not just about the Cold War or the physics of a gravitron. Not even about how to write a proper essay. I, personally, can sense within myself a tangible growth of character, one that I did not necessarily find throughout my experience in middle school. I’ve come to understand more about myself as a person, leader, and friend. I’ve began to learn what I like and dislike, who I mesh well with, and what kinds of things I may want to pursue in the future. I hope that my sister develops a similar notion of growth.

Anyway, here is a smoothie recipe for the start of summer. I kept the recipe vague because it’s really so malleable and you can change the amount of each ingredient based on your desired flavor, consistency, and serving size. I know that my months have been quite screwed up recently (this was actually supposed to be for last month’s theme of bananas), but I promise to try and hone in on adding more timely and interesting recipes this summer. Just a heads up that I changed June’s theme from coffee to herbs, so look forward to some unique treats!

PB & J Banana Smoothie

  • banana(s) (fresh)
  • banana(s) (frozen)
  • strawberry yogurt
  • peanut butter
  • almond milk (or regular milk)
  • vanilla
  • ice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Add more liquid or ice until a desired consistency is reached.
  2. Pour into glasses. Take a slice of a banana for each glass and cut it so that it fits on the glass rim. Serve immediately.

  1. This is a beautiful post. Congratulations on graduating, and to your sister as well. We will have a smoothie to celebrate your successes!

  2. Allie, This is wonderful and sounds delicious. I know you and your Mom have many smoothie combos. I must take a look at the machines I have here in the apartment, pick one, or buy one and get started with Pops as my audience and taster.

    Love, Bubbie

  3. Looks great šŸ™‚ Also, I totally get what you mean about “growing into your own” during high school… Although I’m pretty sure I only recognized that a few years after graduating šŸ™‚
Also – SO jealous of you for finishing with the school year! I’m neck-deep in exams for my degree now!
